OpEL Hardware Support

See a GTA in the OpEL to obtain hardware support.

Parts Exchange

  • Student demonstrates the problem to a GTA during normal OpEL hours.
  • GTA will perform one of these actions:
    • Replace defective parts from the kit supplied by ECE (student must trade in defective parts)
    • Replace destroyed parts if the student understands the mistake and needs additional parts to complete the current lab exercise.
  • GTA: Remember: good parts are in the parts drawer in 219, bad parts go in the trash.
  • GTA: When an item is out of stock, contact the lab manager

Warranty exchange of a ANDY board, meter or scope

  • Student demonstrates the problem to a GTA during normal OpEL hours.
  • If the item is defective, the student will complete the exchange form (there will be copies in the cabinet) and receive a replacement from the GTA.
  • The GTA will place the loan form with the item - describe the problem on the form.
  • The GTA will place the item in the cabinet and contact the lab manager (send me an email please).
  • TA Responsibilities
    • Trade the least number of parts when performing a warranty exchange (not the entire kit).
    • Don't give away the good kit boxes; we need them for warranty service.
    • Attach a sticky note to "defective" boards, scopes, and meters so we know what to look for.
    • Look in the left side of the gray support cabinet in 219 for replacements.
    • Fill out all required paperwork.
    • Secure paperwork in the cabinet.
    • Don't give away parts, boards, cables, meters, or other equipment for a sob story.
    • When an item is out of stock, contact the lab manager
